Full Definition
The annual enrollment fee is a yearly payment required for enrollment in certain TRICARE plans. Whether you pay an enrollment fee depends on your beneficiary category and the plan you choose. Active duty service members and their families generally do not pay enrollment fees for TRICARE Prime.
Enrollment fee requirements by plan: • TRICARE Prime: No fee for active duty or ADFMs; fee required for retirees and their families • TRICARE Select: No fee for ADFMs (Group A); fee required for Group B and retirees • TRICARE Reserve Select: Monthly premium required • TRICARE Retired Reserve: Monthly premium required • TRICARE Young Adult: Monthly premium required
Payment options for enrollment fees: • Monthly allotment from retired pay • Monthly credit card or bank account deduction • Quarterly payments • Annual lump sum payment
Enrollment fees are separate from deductibles, copayments, and cost-shares. They do not count toward the catastrophic cap. Fees are reviewed and may be adjusted annually. Failure to pay enrollment fees can result in disenrollment from your TRICARE plan.
