TRICARE Open Season 2026

The 2026 dates, who can make changes, and how qualifying life events work outside open season.

2026 dates

TRICARE Open Season runs November 9 through December 8, 2026. Eligible changes take effect January 1, 2027.

Open season applies to people who have or qualify for TRICARE Prime—including the US Family Health Plan and TRICARE Prime Demo—or TRICARE Select. It does not apply to active duty service members.

Outside open season

A TRICARE Qualifying Life Event—such as marriage, birth of a child, or retirement from active duty—can open a 90-day period for eligible enrollment changes. A QLE for one family member can create an opportunity for other eligible family members.

What to do now

  1. Review your current plan and expected needs.
  2. Confirm eligibility and available plans using official TRICARE tools.
  3. Compare official 2027 plan information when it is released.
  4. Make the change through the official enrollment route and keep your confirmation.

Federal Benefits Open Season for FEDVIP dental and vision is a separate process with different 2026 dates. Do not assume a TRICARE health-plan change also changes FEDVIP coverage.
