Caregiver support

Caregiver support is help for the family members who care for wounded, ill, or injured service members and veterans, through TRICARE and the VA.

Caregiver support covers programs for the people who care for a wounded, ill, or injured service member or veteran.

  • TRICARE: its page for injured service members says TRICARE offers special benefits, including respite care, for caregivers of wounded, ill, or injured service members. See respite care.
  • VA: the VA Caregiver Support Program has two parts: the Program of Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers, for family caregivers of eligible veterans, and general caregiver support services. The Caregiver Support Line is 1-855-260-3274 (Monday to Friday, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern).
