Overview

TriWest Healthcare Alliance is the managed care support contractor for the TRICARE West Region under the T-5 contract awarded by the Defense Health Agency. TriWest replaced Health Net Federal Services as the West Region contractor on January 1, 2025.

States in the West Region

The TRICARE West Region includes 26 states: Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Iowa (a small portion), Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri (a small portion), Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma (small portion), Oregon, South Dakota, Texas (most of the state), Utah, Washington, and Wyoming. (As of January 1, 2025, six states — Arkansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas, and Wisconsin — moved between regions.)

What TriWest does

What TriWest does: builds and credentials the civilian provider network; processes medical claims; manages enrollment, PCM assignment, and referrals for Prime; runs customer service for West-Region beneficiaries; coordinates with Military Treatment Facilities. TriWest also continues to support the VA Community Care Network in regions where it holds that contract.

2025 transition note

If you moved between regions on January 1, 2025 because of the T-5 boundary change, your enrollment was transferred automatically — verify your PCM and update payment information through milConnect.
