Overview
Humana Military, a subsidiary of Humana Inc., is the managed care support contractor for the TRICARE East Region under the T-5 contract awarded by the Defense Health Agency. The current T-5 East contract runs through the late 2020s and covers approximately 6 million beneficiaries.

The TRICARE East Region includes 32 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin.
What Humana Military does
What Humana Military does: builds and credentials the civilian provider network; processes medical claims; handles enrollment, PCM assignment, and referrals for Prime; runs customer service for beneficiaries and providers; coordinates with Military Treatment Facilities.

What it does not do
Humana Military does not cover the West Region (which is administered by TriWest Healthcare Alliance) and does not administer the TRICARE pharmacy benefit (handled by Express Scripts) or TRICARE For Life (handled by WPS).
