Overview

Express Scripts, a subsidiary of Cigna's Evernorth, is the TRICARE Pharmacy Program contractor for the Defense Health Agency. It runs the retail pharmacy network, the home delivery (mail order) program, and supports the formulary used at all TRICARE points of service.

Three ways to fill

There are three ways to fill a TRICARE prescription: (1) Military pharmacy at an MTF — up to a 90-day supply, $0 for formulary drugs; (2) TRICARE Pharmacy Home Delivery — up to a 90-day supply mailed to your door; (3) Retail network pharmacy — up to a 30-day supply.

2025 copays

2025 copays for non-active-duty beneficiaries (not at an MTF): Generic — $16 retail / $13 home delivery; Brand-name formulary — $43 retail / $38 home delivery; Non-formulary — $76 retail / $76 home delivery. Active duty service members pay $0 at all points of service for covered drugs.

How to contact

Contact: 1-877-363-1303. Web: militaryrx.express-scripts.com. You can transfer prescriptions, set up auto-refill, check the formulary, and request prior authorizations online.

Maintenance and specialty drugs

Some maintenance medications must be filled through home delivery or at an MTF after a couple of retail fills — Express Scripts will notify you. Specialty drugs may require Accredo, Express Scripts' specialty pharmacy.
