Does TRICARE cover annual physicals?

TRICARE covers annual preventive health examinations at no cost-share for all eligible beneficiaries as part of its preventive care benefit. The annual physical includes a comprehensive health assessment, vital signs and measurements, age-appropriate cancer screenings (such as mammography, colonoscopy, and cervical cancer screening), immunizations recommended by the CDC, cholesterol and diabetes screening, depression and behavioral health screening, and health counseling on topics like nutrition, exercise, and tobacco cessation. Well-child visits for children follow the American Academy of Pediatrics periodicity schedule and include developmental assessments, vision and hearing screening, and recommended vaccinations. Under TRICARE Prime, preventive exams are scheduled through the primary care manager. TRICARE Select beneficiaries can schedule preventive visits with any TRICARE-authorized provider. Active duty service members receive their annual Periodic Health Assessment (PHA) at their military treatment facility. Preventive care has no copays, deductibles, or cost-shares regardless of which TRICARE plan the beneficiary is enrolled in.
