Overseas Region

The Overseas Region is the TRICARE service area that covers beneficiaries stationed, residing, or traveling outside the continental United States, Alaska, and Hawaii. The region is managed by International SOS under the TRICARE Overseas Program (TOP).

Overseas Region coverage areas: • Europe, including all NATO countries • The Pacific Rim, including Japan, Korea, and Guam • Central and South America • The Middle East and Africa • Canada and the Caribbean • Any location outside the U.S. and its territories

Healthcare access in the Overseas Region: • Military Treatment Facilities on overseas bases • Host-nation civilian providers • International SOS provider network • Telemedicine services for remote locations • Medical evacuation when necessary

Plan options overseas: • TRICARE Prime Overseas (enrollment required) • TRICARE Select Overseas (no enrollment fee for ADFMs) • TRICARE Prime Remote Overseas (for active duty in remote locations) • TRICARE For Life Overseas (for Medicare-eligible retirees)

Important considerations: • Claims may need to be filed by the beneficiary • Upfront payment may be required with reimbursement from TRICARE • Currency conversion is handled during claims processing • Medical standards and practices vary by country
