MHS Genesis Portal
MHS Genesis is the Military Health System's new electronic health record and patient portal, replacing TRICARE Online. Here's everything you need to know to get started.
TRICARE Online is Being Replaced
MHS Genesis is rolling out across all military treatment facilities. If your MTF has transitioned, you'll use MHS Genesis instead of TRICARE Online for appointments, records, and messaging.

Appointments
Schedule, view, and cancel appointments at Military Treatment Facilities
- Book up to 4 appointments at once
- Set up appointment reminders
- View past visit summaries
Medical Records
Access your complete health record including lab results, immunizations, and visit notes
- Download records as PDF
- View test results when available
- Track health trends over time
Prescriptions
Manage prescriptions, request refills, and view medication history
- Request refills online
- Set refill reminders
- View drug interactions
Secure Messaging
Send non-urgent messages to your healthcare team
- Attach documents and images
- Expect response within 3 business days
- Keep a written record of conversations
Troubleshooting Common Issues
Can't log in
- Ensure you're using DS Logon, ID.me, or CAC
- Clear browser cache and cookies
- Try a different browser (Chrome recommended)
- Check if your DS Logon credentials are current
Missing records
- Records may take 24-48 hours to appear
- Some older records may not have migrated
- Contact your MTF's patient administration for assistance
Can't schedule appointments
- Verify you're enrolled at the correct MTF
- Some specialty appointments require referrals first
- Call the appointment line if online slots aren't available
Portal is slow or unresponsive
- Try during off-peak hours (early morning or evening)
- Use a wired internet connection if possible
- Check MHS Genesis status page for known outages
