Things that you need to know about the TRDP transition
The TRDP ended on December 31, 2019. Starting on January 1, 2020, the TRDP has been renewed as the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP). FEDVIP offers a choice of 10 dental carriers, including Delta Dental.
We understand modifications to your dental coverage may sound confusing. We’re here to help you know what to anticipate and what resources you possess.
If you were registered in the TRDP, you will not automatically be registered in a FEDVIP plan for 2020. You must take action to have dental coverage in 2019. Enrollment is handled through BENEFEDS, which is the government-authorized and U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM)-sponsored enrollment portal.
Registration in the Federal Employees Dental and Vision Insurance Program (FEDVIP) takes place throughout the Federal Benefits Open Season, which usually runs from the 2nd Monday in November through the 2nd Monday in December each year. Since the 2019 open season has finished, you must be afresh eligible or must have experienced a qualifying life event (QLE) in order to register in FEDVIP for 2020 coverage. Contrarily, the next chance for you to register in FEDVIP dental coverage will be during the 2020 Federal Benefits Open Season.
